Supply Chain
Materials Management
Materials Management is a customer-focused team of logistics specialists responsible
for ensuring complete delivery of customer orders and information on future availability.
Materials Management also plays a key internal role in change management for process
and technology and cost control.
To provide our high level of customer service, Materials Management is focused on
four key processes:
- Demand Management – Forecasting on-going customer demand.
- Inventory Management – Controlling inventory levels
in our seven distribution facilities.
- Supplier Management – Monitoring and improving our
suppliers' delivery performance.
- Exception Management – Ensuring that any issues are
quickly resolved.
Our Supply Chain and Technology team is focused on using state-of-the-art technology
to make our process design and execution the industry standard.
Stocking policies to maximize service, optimize supply chain costs
To provide the best service possible, while maintaining a competitive pricing structure,
we use a stocking policy combining local and national stocking logic.
National Stock: Higher volumes and routinely purchased
products are stocked locally at any warehouse where there is demand.
Central Stock: Some products are used infrequently
and are consolidated to a single central warehouse to allow for better fill rate
with a larger inventory base than if the products were maintained locally.
Non-Stock: Other products are used very infrequently
or are one-time custom purchases as in the case of capital equipment. Source Medical
facilitates orders for these products to the suppliers, manages the purchase orders
and coordinates the deliveries.
